George P.L. Jang was cofounder of  The Lab ImageWorks Digital Department.

Professional Photographer since 1970 and Professional Color lab technology expert since 1976.  Graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography 1976 majoring on Portraiture and Color Technology.  Minor in commercial photography as well as continuing research into advance color technology at Brooks Institute in graduate studies on Color technology.

Studied Graphic Arts from BCIT and on going studies on PhotoShop Software attending extensive courses from Photoshop Conferences in San Francisco and National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) .

In 1992 George started  to invest time and money to study PhotoShop he started when version 2.0 was out, at the time 128mb of ram costs $5000.00.  Combining his professional photographic backgrounds, with color technology, a master craftsman in the art of color printing, his studies in graphic art design, and PhotoShop to make it all work in the Professional Digital Photographic Lab.

 

Owner manager of a professional lab and commercial photo studio for 10 years, and then he concentrated in the prolab business for the next twenty years.  George have managed  GKing Photo for 3 years, helping to build a profession division for CustomColor which lasted for a long 10 years, where he have started Vancouver’s first digital darkroom, now moving to higher ground in the photographic digital world.  And now he works with high-end scanners, advance digital imaging, and high-end digital photographic outputs.

 

George Jang is always looking for new ways to help his fellow photographers make their imaging go further.  In 1986 George introduce Fuji Super Gloss to the Vancouver market and made it work.  And in 1990 George achieved in making high quality custom Type R printing available to Vancouver photographers out doing the quality of a 4x5 internegative films.   He introduced  the first contacts sheets from slides and promo contacts. He introduced the FujiChrome Super Gloss printing to Vancouver markets leading CustomColor ahead of other prolabs within Canada. Always challenging and testing new photographic material, he made custom printing a new experience.  Introducing APS technology to Vancouver customers beyond what manufactures’ expectations, challenging the APS film quality of a 40% smaller than 35mm negative and making a high quality fine grain 48x96 print.

George spends 8 to 14 hours per day work digital projects on the computer with PhotoShop. He makes new discovery with this software using old traditional know-how and make PhotoShop go further in the digital darkroom.  Working with very advanced PhotoShop techniques, he worked on projects managing over 90 layers and big files as large as to 1.3Gs.  At the Lab Image Work he is working on Hollywood movie composites and working on movie stars portraits, major restoration work, doctoring extreme damaged negatives and transparencies and providing complete digital custom

printing from all digital and traditional mediums. 

 

His thirty years in the photographic world includes award-winning photography.

He lectures and taught portrait photography, custom color darkroom technology, customer service, marketing and PhotoShop techniques to large groups, staff, and customers.
